About ASHA Journals

Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) encompasses speech-language pathology; audiology; and speech, language, and hearing science—fast-growing fields where interdisciplinary collaboration is the norm. Access to research in top-tier journals in CSD is vital to that collaboration.

Journals from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) have been the pre-eminent sources for research guiding CSD for more than 75 years.

ASHA journals are:
  • Comprehensive – A total of 16 issues per year, across 4 titles, publishing nearly 3,000 pages per year
  • Respected – Top-tier, highly ranked journals that attract the highest quality research
  • In Demand – Nearly 1 million full-text downloads per year, indexed by MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, ERIC, and many others
  • Easy to Use – A complete collection, including the 75+ year archive, on the SilverChair platform, with all the features users expect and all the tools librarians and administrators need to manage the collection
  • Widely Cited – Relied on by scholars in many disciplines, including linguistics, otolaryngology, kinematics, exercise physiology, engineering, occupational therapy, physical therapy, music, psychology, education, special education, communication, neurology, nursing, radiology, and neuroscience

Benefits of Online Subscriptions

Subscriptions include the current year plus the past two years, and what you purchase is yours to keep—access to any content you purchase does not end if you do not renew.

Get the 75+ Year Archive

The ASHA Scholarly Journals Online Archive contains content from 1936 for JSLHR, 1970 for LSHSS, and 1991 for AJA and AJSLP—up to 3 years prior to the current subscription year.

For example, an online archive of JSLHR purchased in 2010 contains content from 1936* through 2007.

The archive is a one-time purchase that gives you ongoing content access. You will be given access to an additional year of content at no additional cost as the archive grows each year. You can buy the archive by journal or get all four for a discounted price.

*Includes Journal of Speech and Hearing Research (1958–1996) and Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders (1936–1990).
