Previous authors have suggested that performance on the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test may co-vary with socioeconomic background. In addition, it has been suggested that PPVT test-form variability may be unique to certain age-groups. To clarify these issues, forms A and B of the PPVT were administered to 28 children of various socioeconomic backgrounds. PPVT performance failed to show any significant relationship to socioeconomic status. Analyses of the present data in combination with previously reported data provided no evidence for variability unique to any age-group. Results are discussed in relation to current clinical use of the PPVT.
