The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficiency and effectiveness of using a portable sound-treated booth in school hearing screening programs. The results indicate there is significant benefit when a portable sound-treated enclosure is used to identify students with and without hearing impairment during initial screening. The major value is a reduction in false negative findings, thus eliminating a significant amount of wasted time and effort in retesting students with normal hearing.
