Some Subtleties of Communication

Author Notes
  • Albert Mehrabian

editor’s note:The speech clinician’s and teacher’s awareness of their nonverbal communication is of cardinal importance to the learning and cooperation of children. Effectiveness in expanding or modifying communication behavior depends on the pro]essional’s examining, understanding, and accepting the differences in children, specifically their cultural and language differences. How children perceive the specialist’s like-dislikeehaviors and responsiveness to them will determine, in large part, how they will learn from him. —W.C.H.
